Zoomed in background image in BPR

Hi,
I’m trying to add an image as a background and render my model with it. I have imported the image through Document-Import and also then imported the image as Texture in Light- Background - image. The background image is 4000px x 2000 px, and document size is also 4000 x 2000.

If you see image a, that is the non-rendered view, and image b is BPR rendered. The problem is that when I click on BPR button, the model renders fine but the background is scaled/zoomed in too high. Could someone please help me? I’m wondering if I have changed some BPR settings which is scaling the background ?

Thanks for your help.

Possibly you will have to adjust>> Render> environment> field of view.

Hi,
Thanks Doug, although I’ve tried changing the field of view and the same problem comes up again. What should the field of view be?
Thanks

BPR won’t render the document. You can use ‘Best’ render which will also render the document or you can use a Plane3D and scale it to the size of your document then in ‘Tool > Texture Map’ apply your background to it.

The Light>Background option is designed for a panorama which is why your image is appearing zoomed in (the image is being wrapped through 360 degrees).

You need to do this:

  1. In the Light>Background menu, click the image icon and select Texture Off from the pop-up. This will get rid of the background image.
  2. Press Light>Background>Create to create a new background.
  3. Turn off Light>Background>Rotate With Object.
  4. Turn off Edit and clear the canvas (Ctrl+N).
  5. Select the Flat Color material.
  6. Import your image using Document>Import.
  7. Snapshot the image to the background (Shift+S).
  8. Clear the canvas (Ctrl+N).
  9. Select the Red Wax material (or your preferred material) and turn on Edit. Your model should be redrawn on the canvas.

Rendering with BPR will now render the scene as you see it.

HTH,

Hi marcus_civis,
Thanks, that did it! It dint work initially until I realized that I had assigned shift S to my standard brush so it dint take a snapshot. Now I’ve given my standard brush another shortcut, and it works great.
Thanks very much!
