ZMesher questions

Hi everyone…this is my first post

I was using Zmesher on a pistol barrel I was working on and came across this problem.

  1. Decimated mesh
  2. Used Zmesher
  3. Noticed it dramatically changed the shape

(Note) This does the same thing even if I dont Decimate first

Select freeze mesh borders before Zremeshing. You could have also deleted loops. What level of subdivision was it and >(point count) before Decimation Master?

Thanks Doug…Thats what I thought would work…I tried it but it did the same thing. One consideration was my mesh was buggy…so thats why I decimated it. Im not really sure what the problem is

I exported the mesh, then I imported it back in Zbrush and that seemed to work

Subdivision 5, the count was 1.485 million

You have symmetry turned on. Zmesher doesn’t create symmetrical topology unless symmetry is turned on, even if the object itself is symmetrical the topology would look different. In the screenshots it’s mirrored. Just turn off the symmetry while running Zmesher, or adjust its axis/rotation settings if you need it.

(slap to forehead) Thanks, that worked.

Thanks guys!
