ZMapper only shows up on Primary Display

Well, after spending half my day trying to figure out why zmapper worked fine on my laptop but not on my workstation with dual displays, it turns out it will only open up if zbrush is on the “primary display” monitor.

Not sure if this is a known issue or not, but I thought I’d try to save others some frustration if they run into this.

Actually, ZMapper does work on secondary monitors. I just tested on mine.

What is the display resolution of your second monitor? ZMapper cannot display if the canvas doesn’t have enough room for it. That means you may need to increase the display resolution. You may also be able to get enough room by closing the trays on either side of the canvas, and also hiding the Shelf (by pressing the Tab key).

Thanks for the reply Aurick! My second monitor is actually a Cintiq, 1600x1200.

I did try maximizing my workspace with the suggestions in previous threads (tab to remove UI elements, etc). This did not help.

It seems like it is trying to open it on my primary display because I see the initiation messages and then my display cursor turns into a cross, but my canvas becomes untoutcahble until I hit my escape key.

EDIT: Some “fixes” I have tried so far - I uninstalled & reinstalled zbrush as initial fix attemept, but that didn’t work, so I uninstalled again and erased any zbrush/pixologic files and registry entries I could find and then reinstalled again, still no good. I also tried loading ZBrush withut any plugin-ins by holding shift at launch.

The Cintiq is a unique display with special drivers. Have you installed the most current drivers from Wacom, and does it even support OpenGL?

Not sure who the culprit is, but problem (sort of) solved! After much fiddling, Zmapper will display properly on the cintiq if the cintiq is set by windows or nvidia control panel as the primary display.

Interestingly enough, ZMapper will display on my 2nd monitor just, fine no matter if it is the primary or secondary display.

Oh well, I can make this setup work
