ZMAPPER & bump map

HI, does any body now how to activate bump map with Zmapper?, when generating normal map zmaper informs that bump map is deactivated.

sorry mate, this feature has been broken for quite some time with no work around or fix.

Thanks, I remember have used it in ZBrush 2.5 but in ZB 3.1 there is no way.

There is a very simple reason why it’s never been touched in ZBrush 3: The purpose of the feature was to let you simulate higher polygon counts than ZBrush could handle. If I remember right, Z2 was limited to about 4 million polygons even on the best machines. 1 or 2 million was what was typically practical. A 4K texture map, on the other hand, can hold up to 16 million points of data. (Taking UV’s into account, it usually actually comes to about 10-12 million points.) So to get that amount of data onto your 1 or 2 million poly model, you had to use the bump map feature.

But ZBrush 3 can handle those polygon counts. This made the bump map feature obsolete. If your model is already in the 10+ million poly range, then a bump map isn’t going to give you any more detail than what your model can already have as geometry.
