ZMap Problems with Architectural Columns

To All Experienced Zbrushers:

I have an architectural model for which I built the basemesh in Maya 2008…UV it…UVs look great. I then brought it into Zbrush, sculpted it a bit…not much though. The model had sharp corners, which I creased and then divided with smooth.
Initially before any sculpting, I just subdivided and zmapped it. The zmap looks good.

Initially, I thought it was an UV problem - and I re-UVed, made sure there were no overlapping UVs. Then, I thought Zbrush did not like sharp edges. So I deleted the higher res and resubdivided with smooth turned on and crease on. Nope. I have seen zmap do such a great job on Scott Spencers tutorial model with the stinger head where there are folded edges and such.

Could the experts shed some light, please? This is my last step to finishing this model and I am basically stuck. Thank you for all your thoughts on this.
