Zif Worm Version 4.1 (updated- 1-17-04)

Hi Juandel
Where is this version 3?
That I load is just the 2 ! :qu:

:qu: :qu: :qu:
Pilou
Damned I have load it just before the release !!! Now I have it !
So dedicace can begin

Neato Juandel, I hope you post that rose you showed me, gives me ideas.

btw, the lastest documentation PDF still has the title 2.0 in it but if it has information on the Memb function you have the right one. Sorry bout that, did I tell you all that I am scatterbrained?

I couldn’t resist another one, which gave me an idea for yet another function.

After you record the stroke, you can create another anytime by pressing the ā€œCreate Zsphere Objectā€ button to obtain a duplicate. Also since the zspheres have data encoded in them they know where to go if you select them from the toolbox or even load them from disk. In this image I created 5 different objects and by duplicating them over and over again I put them on different layers etc… to form a ā€œThingā€ that looks a little tropical to me.

The next version will have a function to save/load both your objects and strokes to and from the disk.

Hi Digits
Is it difficult to Add in the script a zsphere to the ā€œrootā€ for close the ā€œblack holeā€ ?
Pilou

Hi Digits. Very cool script. Very cool pics as well. I sure would like to know the steps you took to make those circular ones. Im jealous  Still trying to figure this thing out. It blows my mind, over my head kinda. Dont really understand much of it. Help!

Heres my try.

:small_orange_diamond:E

i saw you got your dedicacesthread going, Pilou, its looking like ZPlace and Worms are a perfect match :+1: :+1: :+1: and more! i bet that Digits will include a function like asked by you (if possible) but in fact it takes 2 seconds to do so yourself: just hit ā€œaā€ key to access the zspheremode, leave gyro-mode and add that odd zsphere yourself

Floyd, the proposed addons sound (+ look) magnifico - version 10 will come with that music plug-in i always dreamt of, i predict  here is the ā€œroseā€ as requested plus something (over)done* with 3.0, both made making use of attractors on a 3d stroke, manually multiplied (snapshot) and placed:

  • i was reminded of what we do here at midnight on dec 31st: melt lead and then throw it into water to make it ā€œfreezeā€ to prophetic abstracts for the upcoming year
  • juandel

Hi juandel
Of course I can add myself but I love the automatic manipulation
Pilou

For Digits
It’s seems that a pure black plan 3D is creatated at the beginning of the process
And must be erase for the easy use of each worm (for their rotation in space else half part disapear
Is it possible to erase it automaticly just after the worm 3d Zspheres creation?
Or a secret use of it is needing for other thing ?
A polar array should be great
Pilou

Lovin those mirror xyz axis buttons.

Some really great additions! Thanks for joining the fray guys, it is inspiring. To answer some questions.

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

No it wouldn’t be hard, since the script assumes that the zspheres are made sequentially I will have to give it some thought for a future update. Good idea!

<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> I sure would like to know the steps you took to make those circular ones <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Nice to see something from you Evoken. The circular ones are made with the Memb function.

  1. make a stroke and loop it at the end
  2. create the zsphere mesh
  3. Set ā€œRelā€ on to reference the attractors to the parent sphere
  4. Set CDist try 33 to start
  5. Set ā€œNegā€ On or Off depending if you want the attractors inside or outside the circle.
  6. Set either Xa or Ya on depending on the orientation of you line.
  7. Press Memb and it will attach the Atr nodes.
  8. you can turn the Atr nodes into normal nodes by pressing the ā€œAā€ button (not in preview mode) and you will get that scalloped look.

if it doesn’t look right just cntrl Z to erase your object and press the ā€œCreateā€ button again to put your un-altered object back on the screen. (you dont have to rebrush the line) Make your changes and try again.

Hi Frenchy, the reason your object is disappearing is because you created on the backplane of the canvas and there is no more zdepth. Try this

  1. create a new layer to put reference points on.
  2. create a 3D sphere in that layer and position at a zdepth of 0. You can put more if you want for points to draw to.
  3. Go back to your original layer and draw on the spheres as a reference. Now you should have plenty of room to rotate your doodads. When you are done you can hide or erase/del your other layer.

Dinner is getting cold, thanks again guys

Thanks Digits, this one was done before i saw what you posted up above. Ill have to try that next. This one started getting too complicated and my eyes started going buggy on me, so i had to abort mission. Thanks for the feedback.

Wow, Evoken, that is incredibly intricate, so cool! :+1: :+1: :+1: Keep them coming

Also working on a ā€œPutā€ function which will place your object on the canvas where you click the mouse. Since all ā€œWormā€ objects are referenced from the root sphere, unless you ā€œCenterā€ or map a texture, it will grow out of the place you click on. Which can make pretty cool forests or hair etc…

Here is a attempt at Floydian Surrealism, you should watch where your going. Thanks to Southern for the eyball, Dr J for the gate and ?? for the teeth

Thank you Digit to show us the power of ZScript.

Cameyo

Ok Ok, just 1 more for now, unfortunately i must go to work. Bye.

whoooah! fantastico mandalazations, :small_orange_diamond:E ! :+1: :+1: :+1: etc.! and topnotch plans, Floyd! heres my latest experiment:

Hi Juandel
I miss something !
The position of a mirroring for a new object is made by ā€œhandā€ (so not precise) or exist a trick ?
I make all these manipulations with zplace  who seems a bit more easy
Can you make a recording script ? (with no action for the demo user  )
Pilou
ps digits said above
ā€œ1. make a stroke and loop it at the endā€
what is it a ā€œstrokeā€?

Super cool pictures everybody :+1: My favorite is still Digits first one on page 3, absolutely beautiful. I like my chaos controlled, as in many wires but they all end in the socket.

I tried to let myself go but this is the best I could do chaos wise… I think the picture has something to do with digging into ones pockets. Spending to much money. I can faintly remember seeing these buggers just before I ended up eating pasta for two months in a row. Either that or its a rip in the time continuum. Remember that the next time you put your hand in your pocket  Thanks again for the script Digits.

I was hoping to see some great images by people that can actually draw a straight line (which I can’t) TVEyes, I think you did tame Chaos :+1:

<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>The position of a mirroring for a new object is made by ā€œhandā€ (so not precise) or exist a trick ?
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

You can get a precisely positioned ā€œMirrorā€ of your object by selecting one or a combination of the Xa, Ya, or Za switches and pressing ā€œMirrorā€. To get an eight cornered symetrically design do this

  1. Mirror your object X,Y,XY,X and you will get 4 ā€œPetalsā€
  2. Using the Transform:Info pallete select ā€œRotateā€ and enter 90 in the Z axis. This will turn your Worm 90 degrees.
  3. Place this carefully orientating it with your other 4 objects and mirror it x,y,xy,z

ā€œ1. make a stroke and loop it at the endā€
what is it a ā€œstrokeā€? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

What I meant by ā€œStrokeā€ is the Brush Stroke you make with the Simple brush that defines your object when you create the mesh. The Zscript language refers to the Brush data as strokedata so that is why, and of course ā€œBrush Strokeā€ is a good definition of the action.

Please ask more questions, because I don’t know what people are having trouble with.

Someone who can draw a straight line? I could not draw a straight line if the world depended upon it. I just set Preferences :small_orange_diamond:Draw :small_orange_diamond:Mouse Averaging to 8. That would be a handy additional slider to your script. At least for me  Also, the third step when applying a texture rotates the Zsphere chain to a 45 degree angle. I am not sure about anybody else but I would only use cylindrical mapping on a chain like that and that means it should be oriented along the Z axis. Not a big problem as it is fairly easy to rotate with the deformation sliders. Thanks again again.

Thanks for the tip, it didn’t even occur to me, thou I wondered why something didn’t look quite right. I will put in a switch which will either rotate it to the Z axis which will make the Texture stripe longways or horizontal which will make the texture band. COol!

Edit: Wow that makes a world of difference!

After realizing it was a whole different world after TVEyes pointed out the object wasn’t orientated correctly for mapping I decided to hurry up and release 3.1 which will give you a couple of more options. Read about Band and Stripe in the original post.

It also fixed a problem with the data embedded in the object and adds the ā€œPutā€ function. Press that and click on the canvas whereever and it will place your object there.

Please keep the images, ideas and bugs coming.
