ZBrushCentral

ZbrushCentral website

Hope this is the right place.Since the site changed a few days ago it has slowed down to an absurd
speed. Even the letters i’m typing now don’t appear until 1-2 seconds after i typed them, let alone pages with images.
I don’t have the fastest computer but this is insane. It takes 100% of my CPU to show a page with images ever so slowly.

Even now just editing a post 100% of my CPU is used and it’s the only thing i’m actively using right now.
I didn’t have this problem before the site changed a few days ago, now it’s so bad i can barely type this message.

In your General Settings (http://www.zbrushcentral.com/profile.php?do=editoptions) try changing the editor from Full WYSIWYG to one of the other options. That may well resolve the issue.

Thanks for the fast reply Aurick.
I check the site almost every day for inspiration and so far up until a few days never had any trouble.

I did as you said about the editor but it doesn’t solve things.

Maybe i wasn’t clear enough, it’s not just the editor, it’s also just checking out people’s threads.
100% of my CPU is used and even then it’s insanely slow.

The worst are the ZB4 R2 threads which show about 2 cm of an image every 5 seconds when i scroll down.

I also noticed that the images in those threads tend to be larger than my screen, which i don’t recall was ever the case before.
I thought the images had maximum dimensions that prevented posted images from being too large for a screen.

As i said before never had complaints until the recent changes in the site.

The site code fails to resize images that are large and as a result, the actual forum width goes nuts. I have a 22" screen and still need to scroll horizontally to read and see the rest of the text/images. :frowning:

Like this thread for example (same for firefox and chrome):
http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?161160-ZBrush-4R2-Beta-Testing-By-Kurt-Papstein&p=892585

This problem is still not fixed.
Many images are way too big for my screen and there’s still a lot of lag just loading a page.

Again: This problem is not solved.
And it’s so bad I’can’t be bothered to post anymore, i can barely bother even visiting the site the way it is now.

Please do something about this fast, I’d like to participate in the Halloween challenge but if it takes minutes on end just to see a thread , let alone post something myself I can’t be bothered.

I really wonder how this can still be an issue after months and if you’re fed up
with vertical scrolling and too big images on ZBC like me, you might try the following:

First install the quite famous Firefox extension Greasemonkey, a user script manager
that enables you to modify web page content using JavaScript, then restart Firefox.

You can find a plethora of userscripts out there, one of them is Image Resizer.
Click on the top right Install-button and you’ll be prompted to install the
Image Resizer script (it might take a while for the window pops up).

You should now have a little monkey-button in your toolbar and if you open
its menu, you should see the Image Resizer script turned on … and that was about it.

Although this script’s last update was early 2009, it works like a charm.
Hopefully it eases the pain during browsing on ZBC like it does for me!

Hey Froyd, thanks for the reply.
It’s not a big deal anymore for me since i bought a new computer recently.
But thanks for the suggestion :).

Thanks Froyd (for the addon and script links). Works a treat!

Pity I have to install that addon to just view one site properly. :expressionless:

Pro4210: I wonder how a new computer fixes this issue? did you buy a WQXGA screen? ^^

TheCelt: the script should work an any website that contains images that are wider than the actual x-resolution, so it might be of further use.
