zbrush4 - my move tool wont move polygons when working on large scale models

When i’m exporting a 1 meter object from 3dmax it works fine, move tool moves polygons around a lot, the same when i make a polymesh out of sphere inside zbrush.

But when i export a 500 meter object to zbrush, and use move tool, it moves polygons just like with zadd set to something very very low, close to value of zero, other brushes work fine, its only the move brushes, how do i fix that?

Do i have to sculpt on resized down model and then scale it up inside 3dmax?

the same is with surface noise option, anyone knows whats going on?

This might be a dumb question, but have you tried increasing your draw size and also your Zadd intensity? Increasing both of those and lowering the focal shift might do the trick. Somebody correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think the size of your mesh should matter unless it’s GIGANTIC, because with the mix of zooming out + increasing your draw size, you can have a cursor larger than the entire mesh.

Also, you should try experimenting with the different move brushes to see if any of the others fix your problem. I use Move Topo almost exclusively not and only use the normal move when I’m shaping huge chunks.

Hope this helps!

I checked everything, still wont work, and the mesh is gigantic, its an entire island in metric scale 1 to 1. i tried importing a BOX with gigantic scale, and the move tool works fine, it has to be something with my model.

not sure what hte problem is, but this might be a work around.
start off with the gigantic box( the one that works) then append the giant island as a different subtool. let me know what happens.

oh 1 more thing, when you draw the transpose line make sure you end the transpose line off of the model.(so the begining point should be on the model and the end point should be on the canvas)

another solution i can think of is to resize the model inside zbrush by going to tools>deformation>size.but size shouldnt matter i think.

Deform->Unify
Problem solved.

Z is structured to work predictably in the -1 - 1 space. The more it deviates from that the less brushes will affect the model. Unify will set the model to -1 to 1 x/y/z space. You’ll have to re-upscale your model in Max

yes, that solved the problem, thanks a lot, but when i export the lowest subdivision level, import it to 3dmax, and export from max, and import to zbrush, without changing scale, just a rotation of low poly mesh from zbrush to max, and again to zbrush, the move brush works fine, i dont know what i did that messed up my brush like that :confused:

thanks again
