Zbrush3 will not launch on Vista 64-bit workstation Norton Antivirus File isse FIXED!

Has anyone encountered this problem before?

As soon as I install the Zbrush3 app, I am prompted to activate by phone, internet, trial, etc…

Before I purchase the software I want to run the trial so I select the trial radio button then as soon as I hit OK the window disappears and the app never loads.

Friends of mine w/ similar hardware & OS run Zbrush3 w/out any problems. I tried running the software as an Admin and deselected User Account Manager to no avail.

Other 3D apps running on this machine include: Maya2008, Max2008, Motionbuilder 7.5ext2.

Here are the specs on my computer:

Intel Quad Core machine w/ 8GB of memory
1TB Raid0 hdd capacity
512MB video card
8800GTS
Vista 64bit OS

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear that. On Vista 32bit setting the Zbrush to run as admin worked, pretty much what everyone has to do with Vista.

I hope someone can help you out. This is a long shot, do you have an virus or other protection software running? I’m not sure, but maybe disable them incase they caused Zbrush to fail if it was trying to access the internet.

Is your date and time set right, like in the bios and OS, just incase something was off and effected the time period of the trial. I assume it said it had like 30 days left on the trial period?

I have never heard of any problems with the instillation of Zbrush. I had a problem with Zbrush2 as the 32bit and 64bit installs were different. But with Zbrush 3 I have never heard of this, ever.

Try deleting everything you installed on zbrush3, restart, re-install.

you probably tried this, and it’s a long shot as it is. but that’s the best I can do.

btw. I am running vista 64 and xp 64 and have no problems using Z3.

I’m running on 64 bit vista on a laptop and no problems here either. My account has adminstrator rights though.

Right click, run as administrator.

Hey guys,

Thank you all for the great advice.

I have tried running as administrator and uninstalled/reinstalled/rebooted several times.

I believe the fix is Excluding the app in Norton Antivirus File System Auto-Protect.

It seems to be working now!!!

one more reason not to use norton, i use eset nod32 and i have yet to find a problem with it.

I think it will be interesting…I found new Norton Antivirus review on one of my forums:http://carforums-net.com/antivirus/norton-antivirus-and-spyware.html
