Zbrush3 displacement map button disabled

No matter what layer I am on the displacement map button in Zbrush 3 is greyed out and I don’t know how to re-enable it. (this wouldn’t be as much of a problem if I didn’t have to “repair” my Zbrush 2). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You mean the Create DispMap button is grayed out? I don’t think I’ve seen that happen before. Or are you talking about the Apply DispMap button?

nope. The create button is greyed out.

I’ve just had the same problem. If I start up ZB3 and load the default face model at the start, the “Create DispMap” is there, but if I load one of my models in, it’s greyed out on some layers and not on others.

Very odd.

I’ve just been trying to solve this and I’m still stumped. I’ve tried reloading the model, changing the subdiv level, everything and it’s still greyed out. There must be a reason for it.

Just out of interest m_thelumberjack, have you installed Displacement Exporter plugin? I ask because I did that before I realised it wasn’t compatible with ZB3, so I uninstalled it. Maybe that has something to do with it?

Ok I think I’ve solved it.

Under the Geometry and deformation shelves, look for the Texture one and make sure “Enable UV” is selected and you should now have access to the Create Disp button.
