Has anyone experienced this?
I just installed XP x64 pro and after installing ZBrush, it crashes on startup.
The app just crashes after launch!
Anyone? Help!

Yeah we have been dealing with the same problem we have XP X64PRo edition and we could not install Z brush on it, we went back and forth with the guys at pixologic and we ended up having to install winXP 32 bit os to get it to work
Until its ok. This sucks!
I can’t wait to utilize my AMD64FX-55 and the day seem to never come…
I believe that if an application is not specifically written for 64 bit it would run even slower then on a 32bit os… so you would prabably not have many advantages on your 64 bit xp…
As far as I know, tests has been made to make sure the xpx64 supports
32bit application correctly. it is.
I’ve expected ZBrush to run the same on x64 as on the 32bit windows, not better.
But… it doesn’t run at all…
I seem to recall Polaris30 succesfully installed and executed ZBrush on a 64bit version of XP. I believe it was one of the early beta versions but I am not sure which AMD processor he was using. You might try contacting him.
There might also be the issue of the graphic card drivers. Make shure you have the latest for X64. There is a lot in flux right now.
You might also wish to check out VM-Ware which allows you to run several OS.

We are trying to find a solution for you folks. I’ve been in touch with Sun Microsystems, but it’s slow going. If a solution can be found with present technology, I will post it here at ZBC.
Of course, if one of you finds a workable method first, that;s good, too.
I have heard back from Sun Microsystems, which is the company that publishes Java (the component that’s necessary for ZBrush’s security system to function).
They have informed me that at the present time, they only have a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) bundle for the AMD 64 bit machines (available from here). They have not yet published one for the Windows XP 64 bit OS.
I am still looking for a workaround.
already tried it…
*Sigh… Indeed the AMD 64 bit JRE does not work… The weird thing is it was working with 2 Gb and the 32 bit JRE…
But it would be a bit foolish for me to remove my ram again just so I could run this app
Currently Z-Brush is the only app not working with me… I really don’t want to dual boot only for one application…
I would not mind paying a few bucks extra just to have a USB Dongle I could drag around. Maybe that’s some option for Pixologic to look into in the future. Makes the security a little bit less hardware dependent…
mmm yes this is not so good solution my system is now so fast, and i can’t even take advantage of it
