Zbrush zbrush retopology error

Hello All,

I have been trying to retopology a model of mine however whenever I for select my ztool if says that it is more then 15,000 ploys which is correct and I can not retopologize. Can some one please let me know what I am doing wrong. I have seen models retopologized with more then 15,000 ploys thank you for your continued help ZBRUSHERS!

You might wanna try turning simple sphere into polymesh and subdividing it to more then 15 000 polys, say 20 000 or more, if you get error on that one then you might have an issue with memory.
Otherwise, if it works, you might have some problem with the mesh you are trying to retopo, something like a hole in it or a mesh island or something…Have never ran into that type of error so Im just guessing…

Maybe you could uplaod that problematic mesh for us to try to run retopo from our own computers as a last effort.

regards

The model was made from a ploy sphere. I did a head bust from the sphere. my laptop has 6 gigs DDR3. I will try your idea. But I should be able to do more then 15,000 ploys right?

It’s probably because you are going to Topology and clicking Select Topo when you should be going to Rigging and clicking Select Mesh.

Yeah, with that spec you should be able to retopo much bigger files
I have 6gb ddr2, and am able to retopo mesh of couple million polygons

After you select your mesh in Rigging, then go to Topolgy and click Edit Topology.

Thank you that fixed my problem or my lack of knowing lol. Now I need to work on my projection detail. Things are projecting without my details. I can upsub but that does not bring my detail to light.
