ZBrush Virgin

Hello to all

I have been lurking on these forums for the last 2-3 weeks getting completely inspired by all the great works I’ve seen, a big congratualtions to all.
Also a big thanks to all those that post their tutorials, its great info and has really helped me undestand Zbrush.

This is the first time I have every dabbled with a Digital 3D sofware so the whole expereince is very new to me. I have a background in practical effects so have expereince sculpting with clays.

I have created all the designs with Zbrush 2 and Photoshop CS.
I welcome comments, critique and any tips.

Thanks again

Charlie

Wow! I can see your sculpting background really gives you a headstart in Zbrush! I really love that lion-type, it’s fascinating! :+1:

A fan of humour - my favourite has to be the top dry lipped alien.

I agree with Plakkie’s comment - I think your going to fly with ZBrush.

Are you using it in tandem with other software?

If not using a modelling app like Silo will really help you edit your meshs created by Zbrush or create your base mesh for ZBrush sculpting.

I’m sure you already know this but http://www.subdivisionmodeling.com/ is a great place to pick up other tips

Wow. Cheers for all your kind comments guys.

Hey Troy1617
no worries, I am a complete newbie so as soon as I have figured it out I will post one up. I found myself creating these designs using 2 methods the 1st being Zspheres and the second manipulating a human bust I downloaded from these forums. I’m not to sure if thats cheating or just using your head and taking a short cut:D Hopefully next I can create my own base head.

Hey Alex
So this is where you’ve been hanging out, and I thought you had abondoned the the whole practicale sculpting thing for good;).
Hope life is treating you well in Brazil mate and can’t wait to see some more of your creations.

Hey Boozy
Zbrush is the first digital 3D program I have used, I created all of the designs with Zbrush and cleaned then up with Photoshop CS. I have plans to teach myself Maya and Mental Ray. What would everone recommend, I am aware of Silo, XSI, Maya, 3D Studio Max and plugin like mental ray but have no idea which would suit me the best. I only metion Maya as I am inpressed with it rendering capabilities and see alot of employers these days wanting people expereinced in it. Your opinion would be much appreciated.

Thanks again guys

Charlie

I think if you intend to create 3D for industry then perhaps Maya as you say is the best bet as an all round solution.

It really depends what you see yourself specialising in I suppose.

For a modeler with your potential there’s also a good living to be made in supplying 3D content and character content via places like DAZ and turbosquid.
