Zbrush view and perspective view...what's the difference?

Hi all,

I just wanted know what’s the difference between zbrush’s view and a ‘true’ perspective view. Why is it beneficial to me to have a perspective view when as far as I know, there’s nothing wrong with the view i have now. Anyone want to take a stab at that question? also, if you can provide picture examples too that’d be awesome (everyone likes pictures, right?).

Without a perspective view, you can’t really do stuff like this:

I really ought to get back to finishing this.

To activate global perspective within ZBrush, you can hold down the shift key while pressing the “Persp” button in the draw menu. This works for 3d objects only.

The default ZBrush view is orthographic which renders all lines lying on the same plane as parallel without a vanishing point.

When an object is live and in “edit” mode it’s in orthographic mode, however.

…that mac users can have pespective in Zb2 for modelize!

" I believe that mac users can have pespective in Zb2 for modelize!"

Care to give more details Pilou? I’m using the Mac version and wasn’t aware of this! - Baz

Edit! I just found it - WOW! Thanks Pilou I had no idea!

I think i understand what you mean winged one. this is in part due to the zbrush canvas being ‘flat’ right? but I still don’t get how this effects my modeling as i’m modeling…at least i somewhat don’t get it.

Aurick, if you’re following this one, do you wanna give an in-depth answer to this question? i’m really interested to know the big difference. A lot people including Zack Petroc told me they didn’t prefer starting their model off in zbrush because of something about zbrush’s non-perspective view. I know that perspective view is already on the mac version and the pc users are getting it in the new update, but i’m just still not certain how this will benefit my modeling just yet.
