Zbrush video output and editing software

Hi Everyone!
Hya Zber! hehehehe!

I have been playing with video and animation in Zbrush a little bit and was wondering about how I could go about adding music and doing some basic editing. All I have for this now is some crap that came with windows 7 and its not proving very useful at all.
What I want to do is take bits of stuff I make in Zbrush, remove the unneeded bits, time it to music from other video like some of the stranger Goa trance stuff (which its ok to sample the crap out of)

So… not knowing anything about video… what do I need to accomplish this? Zbrush movies need music, or at least a sound track of some sort I think.

Cheers! And Thanks!

Hi Mealea :slight_smile:

I downloaded a trial copy of Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum once and found it to be really great for editing video. It will do everything you want. Download the trial and check it out. It comes with built in “Show me how” tutorials and you should also be able to find lots of tutorials on Youtube.

Using Timeline you can create some very nice presentations entirely within ZBrush. To import audio, use the Movie>Timeline>Load Audio button. :slight_smile:

learning timeline is probably what I need to do, but I have been using Camtasia studio trial for a few weeks. Its easy I think that combined with what timeline can do would be perfect for what you need.

@Zber:
Thanks! I’m looking into that, but also what Aurick said got my attention in a huge way, if I dont have to leave Zbrush I think would be happy as can be.

@Aurick:
I totally forgot about the timeline, and had no idea it does audio because till now I never needed either. What I have noticed, and after only a very short time of messing with it, is that when I am recording a time lapse or any other sort of animation it does not enter what I am doing into the time line and that has me perplexed. The timeline has that “beat” thing where I can mark places in the audio, but if I cannot see what I have for animation how do I correlate the two?
I have just started reading the timeline documentation so most likely what I am after is going to be in there, but its a lot of stuff so its looking like it might take a while and more so taking into account I have no idea what most of the stuff means!
This is going to be very fun!
Thank you!

@Idlemind:
Thank you!
I will have a look at that as well! This is going to be a busy week!

Cheers and thanks you guys!!!

Hi Mealea :slight_smile:

ZBrush is cool and magical, but a Video/Audio editor it isn’t. Save yourself a lot of headaches. Render your videos in ZBrush but do your video and audio slicing and dicing in Sony Vegas. It will be much, much easier, give you much more versatility and you will be much happier with the result. Just my opinion. :slight_smile:

Thanks you guys, I know its been a while since I brought this up.
Somehow I have totally failed to make any progress. (Thanks for the link Zber but I cant register with Sony due to my address and thus cannot register/run their stuff.)
Somehow I have a total disconnect between the stuff I record and any other program even the timeline.
Is there a way to get an animation into the timeline?
For example: how do you get a timelapse or turntable recording into it? Is that even possible? The idea here being that I could make a timelapse video and have sound in it… right?

Totaly befuddled!

Cheers!

I use the video editing program ShowBiz to edit videos. I used to create videos from short videos by cutting them into small clips and reorganise them together to make a new one. In order to make my video more lovely, I will add some transitions and effects, do the color management and add musics. I love the simple editing and the cool effetcs. Maybe you can try to remove the unneeded bits, and add music from other videos to make your masterpiece.
