Zbrush Tools HATE Hard Disk Data Recovery

Hey people. I just recently had a huge Hard Drive crash with all my lifes work on it bla bla. I had the data recovery people work on it. They managed to get everything back. I resumed work on my zbrush model and only to find it crashes the program when i load the tool. I’m using Zbrush 2 no doubt and I have saved this model in increments. I loaded an earlier one only to find polygons missing from the hull. Strange. Insanely frustrating. :grimacing:

I know Zbrush logs things and is almost like a text based software as in it logs all of your commands if you ask it giving you the ability to make tutorials and other cool things. I am asking if there is some way to recover my work either through having the computer recreate my work using a log that i’m not sure I have or is there a plugin out there that can break down a zbrush file into easily importable commands for say a step by step tutorial or in my case a recovery?

Here she is in her healhy form… Oh how I long her clean zeroes and ones :frowning:

I’d really appreciate some help.

Thanks alot,

The “log” that you’re referring to is a recording of your ZScript session. Unfortunately, that buffer is erased every time you shut down ZBrush unless you specifically save the ZScript by clicking ZScript>End Recording before shutting down.

If you upload the ZTL to a server somewhere and send the link to [email protected], we MAY be able to salvage the model. This could take some time, though, if it’s even possible. We’re going to be at SIGGRAPH the next few days, in addition to continuing to work on the Mac version of Z2. So we’re kind of busy at the moment.

Yeah good going. Im looking forward to purchasing your Macintosh release of Zbrush 2.

In regards to my corrupt data I took your reccomendation and sent the link in an email.

Thankyou and cheers! :+1:
The best of luck with the port

We have put quite a bit of effort into trying to recover the files, but they are actually missing data (as opposed to having that data mixed up). Since it is not possible to restore missing data, there is unfortunately no way to recover these particular files. It looks like the data recovery team wasn’t quite able to get everything back for you.

Are these the only files that you encountered problems with, or do all of your recovered ZBrush files behave in this way? Do you have older versions of these sample files that can be read, or have they been corrupted as well?

Hey, have you ever heard about http://www.diskemergency.com it’s also one of the best among the all data recovery service providers. It has many ways to recover our data from any disk. Hope this will work out for you.

All the best!

Hi! I am also using one and so far I am lovin’ it. Data Recovery has helped me a lot of times in the past and I recommend that you get one.

I’m also using Zbrush but I’ve never had any problems with it, although I’ve been working with it for only a short while. In fact I’d experienced the issue of data loss due to another software and that really stressed me out since the data were just crucial for my studies. I was blessed to have a dude at the IT department who recommended me a data recovery system to salvage all my files and stuff. He saved my life back then. I’ve had many other cases of HDD crashes and other system deadlocks but I’ve never freaked out coz of that ever since. Data recovery software’s a brilliant human invention ever!
