Zbrush to Maya, how to capture the detail?

Hey all.

I have problems getting the detail from the ZB mesh to Maya via displacement maps and bump maps. My resault is far from the sharp and good details in Zbrush and all look washed out and very poor.
I have followed various tutorials how to capture the displacement map, for these I used DpSubPix - 3 and MapSizeAdjust - 0 for the displacement map as well as tried adaptive but that didnt give a very good resault for me.

Here is the original Zbrush mesh I want to bring to Maya.

And here is the resault I get in Maya after applying a displacement map and a bump map.

As you can see it does not at all reflect the target mesh from Zbrush.

I have tried using both Parametric and Spatial settings for the SubD aprox. but the resault are pretty much the same, the above image is Spatial.

My displacement map Alpha gain and offset settings are:
Alpha Gain - 2.337
Alpha Offset - 1.347
Filter - Off

I tried different amounts and higher values make the surface look like it consists of a bunch of squares or generally make a even worse resault.

My Bump Map settings are the following:
Alpha Gain - 0.220
Alpha Offset - 0
Filter - Off
Bump Depth - 0.455

Higher values here also made strange resaults.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreaciated.

Thanks in advance.

There are tons of threads on this topic already. The answers are here, you just have to dig a little to find them

Hi dustinbrown,

I actually did some searching before but I couldn’t find any good sollution for it. Perhaps I need to practice my search skills a bit more though

Been trying a bit more with this and got a decent resault by using the Adaptive command while exporting the disp. Map.
However when I try turning of Adaptive and use the DpSubPx way with a value of 2. I get almost no displacement at all in my renders in Maya.
I was using Alpha Gain 2.2 and offset -1.1 for both of these tries.

How come I get almost no displacement at all from the DpSubPx setting, is there something else that needs to be done?

I spent the whole day trying to figure this out as well, reading every post on here. There are many contradicting approaches and none has worked thus far

The model was created from a plane primitive in zbrush. All of the displacements are soft and barely move the surface.
