ZBrush Tiling textures

I followed a tutorial on tileable textures that looked awesome but didn’t mention what to do after the meshes are tiled. It relied heavily on the Layers pallette (not the layers sub-palette of the tools palette). I went with the layers palette approach over Eat3D’s subtools approach so I could displace the layers and get the loaded tools to wrap around the canvas. This is my progress: http://i.imgur.com/jVOb8J0.jpg

Now I’m trying to use the MRGBZ Grabber to make maps, but because I have no tools loaded into my subtools palette, the MRGBZ grabber isn’t reading any depth on the document.

So it looks like I have the option to use the layer palette to displace and wrap around (but sacrifice MRGBZ grabber) or the subtools palette at the sacrifice of wrapping tools around. What’s the best way to bake maps out in ZBrush?
