Zbrush taking lots of hard drive space?

Hey guys, sorry if this has been addressed before but it’s really killing me here. Every time I use Zbrush, it seems to be randomly taking large chunks of space on my C drive. For example, I will start off with 10 gb of hard drive space left on my C drive in the morning, then throughout the day of using Zbrush I’ll see that it went down to 8, then 7, then a day or two later I’ll get the Vista message of Low Disk Space and I’ll have something like 500mb then down to 80 etc.

Does Zbrush store any sortof temp files that have accumulated over a long time that I haven’t cleaned out or something, or what? I keep moving things to my external HD but this is getting really tiring losing so much space to seemingly nothing

thanks for any help, it would be much appreciated!

Zbrush wants to have at least 15% of your main drive for scratch disk. When you start exceeding your RAM then it will start to store temp info on your HHD.

Thank you for the reply! That actually makes a lot of sense, because I’ve noticed the exceeding RAM notification quite a few times. So is this something I can clear out to free up that space, and if so where is that located? Thanks again

You cnat clear out that space. It is wiped when zbrush closes. The best thing to do is only install applications you use to your hdd. Every system we have at our office has a c and d drive. Programs go on c. Random crap on d. Video games and such. Everything else is stored on our server.

I confirm what Beta channel wrote: ZBrush can write large amount of data on your hardrive (inside the ZBrush folder) for its own usage and the most loaded tool you will haven the more data will be written on your hard drive.
