Zbrush subscription?

Hi.

With Adobe starting their creative suite subscription model, would something similar be available for ZBrush?

I want to get started with this software, but I’m not ready to shell out 700 USD for it yet. But with a pay-as-you-go subscription, I could take my time learning how to use ZBrush.

A learner’s version would be nice as well, even if it had watermarks on the renders or some limitations (I know some companies have dropped this sort of thing because of piracy, but if people really want to, they always find a way anyway…).

Just something to think about.
I have downloaded the trial but, as with all trials, they always expire before I can take full benefit of them (busy working during the week).

Thanks for reading, please leave any feedback on this if possible.

Pixologic so far has been amazing about giving updates for free which is something most companies don’t do without a subscription. I think its a good trade off. $700 is alot of money but still considerably less than other bloated archaic 3D software.

If you want to pay over time…charge it! Its the American way!

There is always Sculptris. That is free.

That’s true. But what would be the disadvantages of a subscription model?
I do think it’s where most companies will converge, sooner or later.

The Disadvantage would be paying for something we very gratefully get for free!!!

The Subscription model only works for Software where you pay for updates & generally that software is a lot more expensive.

Download the free trial & save up for a liscence.

http://www.pixologic.com/store/#academic.phpNot sure if you’re a student and/or still rocking a student email addy. But this should help.

It’s not so much that I have to save up and buy the program, it’s a matter of not wanting to spend money before I know I have some degree of proficiency with it and that it is indeed an application I’d like to work with. I like to spend my money wisely, when possible (and if everyone was on board with this, we wouldn’t be in the economic hell we are experiencing right now).

A subscription model overcomes the initial investment hurdle, and allows the user to decide later to keep the subscription or make the full purchase – both business models aren’t mutually exclusive by any means. So what you mentioned isn’t really a downside, it’s more of an opinion.

Thanks for the link beta_channel, however, I don’t qualify for a student version.
