hi I just realised I lost my lowest mesh subdiv and I now have high subdiv is there any way I can morph the lowest subdiv back from the previous objs?
is there a way I can transfer my higher level details to my previous lower subdiv model?
please anyone?
you can take your low poly, subdivide it to the appropriate level, then import your high res as an OBJ while that level is selected.
this only works if your vertex order hasn’t changed, however.
if it HAS changed, you can still import the low res as a subtool in your high-res tool, then subdivide it to the appropriate level and “project all” under the subtool menu. That will project the high res details to your low res mesh. If you have holes in your mesh, this will probably result in a huge mess that you have to clean up with the morph brush and morph targets, so it’s not advisable.
and lastly, if your mesh has clean topology (no local subdivisions, that sort of thing), you can “reconstruct subdiv” under the geometry menu of your high res mesh. This will basically ‘reverse subdivide’ your mesh.
So yeah, lots of options. hope this helps, good luck!
heres a image after i try reprojecting
looks like you had the wrong subtool selected when you hit project all… looks like the high poly tried to match the low poly instead of the other way around.
but it looks like you have holes in your mesh, so i can’t recommend the projection method anyway… try reconstructing subdivs on your high poly, that usually works great for me unless i’ve merged subtools or done local subdivisions
i tried both subtools and same result i also tried reconstruct and no luck
