ZBrush subdividing geo with every brush stroke.

I have a dynamesh and can no longer sculpt on it due to the mesh subdividing each time I try to make a brush stroke. I doesnt matter if dynamesh is engaged or not. This happens with every brush. What hotkey did I accidentally hit this time? No info on google or here.

Probably dynamic subdivision, next to subdivision section in tools.
If you press d and there is not already normal subdivision in place then it will automatically use dynamic subdivision. D key as well as X are too easy to hit with unwanted consequences.

And you just saved me a whole lot of messing around. I already noticed the normal subdivision can get accidentally switched in but the dynamic one is a new one to me.

You can deactivate the dynamic subdivision with shift d, the same key used for stepping down in normal subdivision. It is a handy way to quickly check how an object is going to look subdivided, as long you know what is going on.
