Maybe a crazy idea, but just throwing it out there: ZBrush plugin/extension for up-and-coming Sixense/Shapeways MakeVR platform? This would mean fantastic camera control and two handed sculpting, plus all of ZBrush’s power, in a 3D environment, which can do realtime collaborative modeling, and is compatible with the Occulus Rift.

– wild new ways of creating form: sweeping shapes in space, very intuitive and powerful.
I saw it in action at the 3D Printer World Expo in action few days ago. I haven’t been convinced at all by such device (for 3D creation I mean)…
Does it seem somewhat gimmicky at this point? What do you think is lacking from such a system?
for me it similar to a 3D mouse: it’s “great” for navigation, but not for “creating” things. It’s good only for navigate / select / move-rotate-scale like operations. Try to imagine drawing a simple nose on a sphere with that? Then compare with the lowest entry level pen tablet and you have your answer.
Also add on top of that the need to have both arms always moving with no way to easily rest them, I guess you will feel a real pain in your arms/shoulders after a couple of hours.
Keep in mind that my opinion is only about creating with such device. I’m sure it’s a very good device for a lot of other things!
