Is that a box at level one
(heh private joke between troy and me)

Good job with the tools provided.
I like how you went further into details.

The high res on the palm turned out great.
The first bend in the ring might want to move it one scoush down other than that looks good.

Thanks for the post here I think a simple hand would make a great simple challenge and get people back to the basics.
Simple studys build confidence and allows you to see good form.

wait till you see some of the next vids where I make

Emo soldier
[render.jpg](javascript:zb_insimg(‘141701’,‘render.jpg’,1,0))

Where I manipulate poly paints through subtools.

Jason,

Thank you for your tireless efforts at instruction.

I have a question about the 3.12 lessons. Specifically, the ‘Procedural’ videos (un-numbered).

This is a very cool work-flow. However, if I want to render out an image in Maya in Mental Ray, how do I use this? Do I make a map? How is it applied and connected to the shader network?

Thanks!

~S.~

yes snark you will need to bake it to a texture within maya ( i think I showed an example of that baking the workflow in those videos because I baked out the map for Zbrush to bump up the character… Then you need to mount it in the color channel on the material.

are those videos that explain baking in maya

Thanks! ~S.~

yup Jason its from a box…
after all what else is there in my world…lol
but i am starting to transition into using other methods and workflows…

thanks Jason it was just a quick study yeah i didn’t see that ring finger till you mentioned it proportions are off in many places now that i look at it again… looks like it has a ways to go yet…

yeah i think a hand would be a good challenge because there’s so many subtleties in form and it would really force you to see forms more closely…

looking forward to your next videos to come and hopefully your zbrush 4 videos to come soon…

i always seem to learn something new…

Learn more about how maps function and export out of Zbrush and where they attach in the Blender Game engine

Normal Map Displacement Map (no real time Displacement but still handy) Specular Map Occlusion Map (Very sweet map) Baking materials for 3.12 with no image plane plugin [youtubecp]http://www.youtube.com/p/FC5D4CE810BFD242&hl=en&fs=1[/youtubecp] Having trouble placing these vids so I made them chapter 5 in my blender series if you are going to www.houseoftutorials.net/video to get them enjoy

Jason thanks for all your videos, you are the reason i ever learned how to use zbrush properly and all your experience and clear tutorials helped me so much.
p.s I am looking forward to buying your maya tutorials from your site on payday.

Wow Jason, I started out watching ur Gears of War Editor Tutorials and then found out ur into Zbrush, thats awesome, you should make a Zbrush to Max to GOW Editor tutorial. It would help out so much and it would be so much appreciated.

I’m Mac and never going back
If I do I will have to choose maya only because Zbrush to max is tricky with explosion point order problems.
Its the deform er type modification that makes max sorta weird.
I won’t say I hate it to bad just don’t prefer it.

To bad Epic has not supported that Mod community the way they used to.
I love gears but gears only died from microsoft not allowing epic to make it totally modable. Modable games live forever. Then no gears II for PC!
That was the last straw. UT is fun to mod but the AI for a monster shootem game like GOW wasnt there making it fun only for enviromental modeling.

I really want to get into the UNity engine. But I want to try before I buy it.

0227-0240 Has been added to the Zbrush Season 3 dealing with alpha based generated meshes and how to build up and sculpt separate forms. Then I take it to maya with Go Z as a test of the sweetest plugin of all

sadface yea zbrush to max is pretty complicated, modable games do last forever =D, and no gears 2 for pc is so sad, epic could have been great

Hi Jason,

give Unity a try , it is an awesome engine. We use it for all our games. It's features ranges from standalone mac/win games to even iphone support. Have a look at this site here. [http://www.geartechgames.com/GearTech_Games/Welcome.html](http://www.geartechgames.com/GearTech_Games/Welcome.html) It's the website of one of my team members. He made some tutorials for me and others of how to use modo and zbrush with unity. And he also created some demos. There is even the project files for his Asylum demo to play with. Just have a look around. We use Modo/Zbrush in our daily workflow with Unity and it's a great combination. So give Unity a try , you won't be disappointed. It's way better than blender GE and modding games.

And you are right on one thing , i will also never go back to windows
again.

Cheers Mike

Jason,

Thanks for the GoZ tips! Looking forward to more ‘ZBrush > Maya’ workflow vids. Particularly interested in how working with maps has changed.
