Hello everyone. I am brand new to zbrush and I have to say it is very different than any other 3d program I have used before…in a good way. I love the feeling as though I am almost “sculpting” the figure instead of mechanically trying to place shapes.
I have a question regarding rendering. I have noticed zbrush appears to have very strong, rich and quick rendering capabilities - however, do many of you perform your final render in zbrush or an external program? I have used Poser for a long time, I used to use 3ds max, lightwave and maya, but I enjoy a much simpler interface such as Poser. And to add to the question, do many of you texture your objects outside of zbrush?
Thank you very much for your responses.
You can use ZBrush for rendering and texturing.
For texturing, one method is to use PolyPainting. This is very easy as you simply paint onto your model without having to worry about texture maps or UVs. If you don’t need to transfer your model to another program then this is the best method to use.
For rendering, some people will use other programs because they are familiar with them or have particular needs, such as animation. ZBrush is not an animation program and doesn’t have the sophisticated lighting or scene creation abilities of a program like Maya. However if you want to create images without having to worry about technicalities then ZBrush is an excellent choice. You can also use the many 2.5D brushes to enrich your renders if you wish.

Thank you very much for your response that gave me a clearer direction as far as texturing and rendering.
