Hi I’m still fairly new to Zbrush and just trying my hand at modding the default dog mesh in Zbrush from the lightbox area. I am having times where zbrush crashes though and loses my work. Is there anyway to maybe add a script or something that can recall that work or have it autosave at times for me? It’ll crash at times when I go to save it as a tool. Other times it works no problems. Just not sure how I can improve this issue. Any help would be much appreciated!
There is an auto file recovery button under the performance tab in the Preferences pallet. It is on by default in Z4R2 and if ZBrush can recover the file you normally get a dialog box that says it successfully recovered it. If the file is recovered it is saved to the Recovered Files directory. To open that file you can click on lightbox, then click on the Zbrush menu item and you will see the Recovered Files folder.
Unfortunately if ZBrush for some reason can’t recover the file it is lost. There are times when that can happen.
There is also a plugin written by Svengali called QuickSave: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?49080-QuickSave-Update-Plugin-Button-Set-for-ZB3-(replaces-QuickSave)/page5
You want QuickSave4.zip on page 5 and the first page of the thresd describes the plugin. It isn’t automatic so you need to get in the habit of periodically saving which will become second nature in no time. The plugin has not been updated for Z4R2 yet but it seems to work well for me.
I’ll have to give the plugin in a try. I know I could definitely get use to that so that won’t be a problem! thanks man appreciate that!
