ZBrush performance problem on 30 inch screen

Yesterday arrived my new 30" monitor, I bought for CG. First I have started 3DSMax to see how everything looks. No problems there, quality and performance are fantastic. Next I have turned on ZBrush and rescaled Document size to fit the maximum available area which was 2170x1474, everything looked great, then I opened every available panel and shelve and rescaled Document size again to about 1900x1400. Put on the screen a Head model and all was good up until I zoomed in.

When model was covering about half of the available document space performance was great, but the more I zoomed in the worse was the performance and it wasn't dependant of the mesh density at all, I have tried also on 1 polygon model just to see the same thing happening. My spec is Intel Core 2 Duo 3.16 OCZ 4GB 1333MHz ReaperX Radeon 4870x2 2GB I have read somewhere on the net that ZB is rendering in software and not using any opengl/directx, if this is true, to improve my performance I would need better CPU. Can anyone confirm that this is the case. Or there is some other way to tune up ZB to boost the performance??

RAM and CPU are what you need. Or a smaller document size. I have a 30in and have my document set at 2560x1440 (double 720) and that works fine for me, but I also have 24gb of ram and dual quads.

Thanks Yeti, I suspected that its gonna be CPU and ram. Anoying thing about PC is every time I change one thing its like a chain reaction and I end up rebuilding most of the rig…
