zbrush_PC performance issue

The model I am currently working on is up to subdivision 7(a bit more than 5mil polys). I increase it to level 8(a bit more than 23mil polys) since some alphas are low res on the mesh(after I increase the allowed amount of polys from the Preferences drop down menu) but when everytime I try to make a stroke, zbrush loads, cursor changes to loading/saving cursor and I see the result some seconds later.

zbrush uses 4GB of RAM while my PC speccs are:

AMD Phenom II x6 1055
8GB DDR3
ASUS EAH4870 HD 1GB
etc

Is 23mil standard polys(no HD geometry) too much for zbrush or something else happens?

Thank you in advance.

Probably you may want to adjust your MEM setting in the Preference Panel also be careful about the amount of undo you select, you have a potent machine so that is not the problem…other thing is take a look at your graphic card and the last drivers…i have read here something like your point…not sure at all

Well, I have set zbrush to use 4GB of RAM, which is the maximum it can get.

I kinda solved the problem by using HD geometry instead of Standard geometry. This way the level of detail is highly increased while the performance is way better.

However, problem remains cause from what I have read, you can’t extract normal and displacement maps from a HD mesh…
