Zbrush painting scourges

  1. Why when you paint through Projection Master (AKA on the texture), with a part of the model out of the canvas (because we need paint details) the painting appears in places where the model it wasn’t visible on the canvas?

This is a really disturbing bug, we NEED paint detail. Pixologic should fix this or present each us a 30 inches monitor.

Did you imagine you are sculpting some detail, and when you zoom out, you find this detail tiled over all your model? A nightmare?, well, the don’t try to paint!!.

2) Why if you try to paint a texture NON squared (done perfectly fast with Tool> Texture> Crop and Fill & MRGBZGrabber tool) when you try paint it with the Drag rect stroke appears deformed-squared shaped?. Why?, why?, WHY?. Please, why?. 3) Why Am I restricted to Projection Master to paint ON the texture?. It would be too easy as if Tool>Texture>Colorize button is On, then polypainting, if is Off, then Texture Painting. If I wan use the 2.5D brushes, then I will use Projection Master. 4) Why a Reconstruct Tool for the low poly?. We need, NEED, a high poly that adapts itself at low poly one. We need add detail to our model, not modify it. 5) Why you don't have restored the ability to convert the bump mapping to normal in Zmapper? 6) Why you don't have released a new preset for Maya 2009 for tangent space normals, when you said in the past you would do it?(). Yes, it is. Using the tool Directional Brush, but it take a bug if you need use an alpha for it. The alpha will be cutted cleanly for one of its sides.

9) Please, tell me the Zbrush 3.5 will be prepared for paint on textures, please, please... I mean, Pixologic things about texture painting like a goal?.
  1. Why with Nudge, Move, and Pinch Tools, we can’t paint & sculpt simultaneously?

  2. Can we get in a customize interface the curves graphics (brush menu> Smoothing Curve, or Edit Curve)?

  3. Why “Disable Uv” destroys Uvs?. Not should it “disables” it?

  4. Why if you mask an area because you don’t want paint on it, and you paint near it using Projection Master, the Mask is painted too?

  5. Why we can’t see our model in “smoothed mode”, like the soft edges in maya?, or the soft view of Mudbox?. I we want simply paint it (without sculpt), it will help us very much.

  6. Will be so difficult a tool that behaves as a combination of Drag Rect and DragDot tools? Draw a stroke with Drag Rect and press Spacebar, swich while to DragDot, release Spacebar and back to the Drag Rect tool.

This way will avoid us draw twenty times the same damn stroke from the “perfect center” of the area we need paint.

  1. Why We can’t ERASE our paintings?. We need erase some parts of our paints. If you’re working througth the damn-full-of-limitations Projection Master, and using a textrue for painting, sometimes you need put the texture in a determined place, but some parts of the stroke enters in places where you wan’t paint (usually, the limits of the stroke).
    Well, then you are unable to erase the paint where you don’t wanna paint. If you try to erase it, only painting the second color, and overwritten all the nice perfect texture you had put here yet. This is a damn garbage.

you can paint with textures w/ polypaint, you just have to disable your UV’s first. just make sure you save your level 1 mesh so you can get them back when you’re done… and since it’s polypaint you need lots of geometry to work with…

I agree though, there’s definitely room for improvement.

But don’t try it with a non organic form like a table with rounded borders. The detail of the huge center of the table will be ridiculous, while the detail of the borders will be a waste of resolution.

So, or we need a new subdivision method for not organic geometry (that splits geometry searching polys have the same area), or you paint over the texture with a correct uv map.

yeah, i totally agree. for that type of stuff I’ve always had to use bodypaint/photoshop for proper UV-based painting. ZApplink works pretty well, but it has all of the drawbacks you’ve mentioned since it’s essentially a glorified projection master

Well, finally exist a way to get the Drag Rect stroke rotates in Projection Master mode. Only we need select the tool “Directional Brush” in the Tool palette…

…or not. If we choose this combination plus an alpha, and work during a time, alpha will be auto deformed, getting us a problematic cut on the alpha that will not allow fuse the new stamp with the background. Other Bug?.

I keep adding more and more scourges that keep me angry and dissapointed 24/7. I’m as warm as I can cut off the heating on this cold cold winter.
