zbrush on 8 core cpus

So im trying to buy a new cpu, and im wondering if there is a big performance increase on a amd fx 8 core cpu or should i stick to intels i5 ? I cant really find anything on this on google or here, Dosnt help that all comparisons between them are ether made on games or on 3d max and blender.

So how well does zbrush perform on 4+ cores ?

amd cpu’s and Zbrush don’t currently play well together. Most of the time you have to turn off Multi-threading. I would recommend either an i5 or i7.

Yhea i thoiught amd cpu might not be the best for this, also for some reason most test i saw didnt show any performance increase of 8 core processor over i5 and i7 4 core ones on photoshop max blender and few other, dont know if its software limitation or whta, but obviously its not worth it for me.

Guess its left deciding if i want the i5 series or xeon series.

I have never had an issue with amds & zbrush. Owned several and have owned zbrush since 3.1 … im sure the 8 core would be flawless. As for a boost in performance, maybe not much of one. Now full render in max maya, blender or even Vue… the more cores and ram the better.

It is a known issue that AMD chipsets do not perform the same as Intel chipsets working in Zbrush. I have been using Z since 2006 and the only systems I find any hickups with are AMD chipsets.
