Hi,
I’ve been bringing my Zbrush models over to Maya… i’ve been successful in loading them into Maya via GoZ and then rendering them with no texture. works great.
now I want to bring over a object and rig, animate and render in maya.
I used this workflow and the result is, the textured object imports to Maya, but Maya hangs just trying to render one single render at lowest quality. Maya doesn’t recover and I have to kill it’s process.
workflow:
- in zbrush I go to lowest sub division
- go to uv maps and make a new GUV tiles at resolution 1024
- once done i go to the highest sub division (3)
- I make a new texture based on polypaint…
- I go back to lowest sub div and make a normal map (also tried this with displacement)
- now at lowest sub, I click GoZ
The model loads into maya, and if i hit “6” it shows it in the display with the texture.
From here, if I click render in Maya, it will crash.

any ideas what’s killing maya?
