Zbrush objects not rendering in Maya

Hi,

I’ve been bringing my Zbrush models over to Maya… i’ve been successful in loading them into Maya via GoZ and then rendering them with no texture. works great.

now I want to bring over a object and rig, animate and render in maya.

I used this workflow and the result is, the textured object imports to Maya, but Maya hangs just trying to render one single render at lowest quality. Maya doesn’t recover and I have to kill it’s process.

workflow:

  1. in zbrush I go to lowest sub division
  2. go to uv maps and make a new GUV tiles at resolution 1024
  3. once done i go to the highest sub division (3)
  4. I make a new texture based on polypaint…
  5. I go back to lowest sub div and make a normal map (also tried this with displacement)
  6. now at lowest sub, I click GoZ

The model loads into maya, and if i hit “6” it shows it in the display with the texture.

From here, if I click render in Maya, it will crash.

any ideas what’s killing maya?

How many points in the mesh?
Have you tried rebuilding the shader?
