Zbrush noob here: Straight lines/brush strokes etc

Hi,
I couldn’t find any with search beside some very dated Zeeble thread. What are the options of drawing straight brush strokes? pressing Shift key while drawing seem to draw straight lines but they’re only at 45degree or 90degree angles i believe.

What are the other options of drawing straight brush strokes on your objects?

thanks

You can use Backtrack and SnapToTrack with the Line option in the Stroke palette:
http://docs.pixologic.com/reference-guide/stroke/lazy-mouse/

You define the line first then drag back to the starting point to apply the stroke.

Thank you! that is exactly what I was looking for.

Also is it possible for me to draw a fixed curve of any shape and be able to use a feature like backtrack over it? It seems like the spline or curve for backtrack can only be in one direction like a line and not something like a circle or extremely curved line

You can use the Curve mode in the Stroke palette. This allows you to draw a curve which you then click on to create the sculpted line. Try the CurveStandard brush (press B to bring up the Brush palette, then B and then G). Draw out a curve, then click on it. You can click again to increase the effect, and drag the curve to move or edit its shape. Simply click on another part of the mesh to delete the curve so you can draw another.
