Hello,
I get huge lags while trying to use reference image planes. Its almost imposible to draw with such speed. Is it normal? By the way i use radeon r9 series graphics… Here`s the video
ZBrush is a software renderer and doesn’t depend on the graphics card. I get some lag but not as bad as your demonstration. Anyway, I suggest you use the grids for reference images, they’re much more versatile.

Thanks for the reply, but the grids method lags as well…
What OS are you using? And do you have Preferences>Performance>MultiDraw turned off?
Win7. Turned off Multidraw, no effect. Im trying to install the updates now on a fresh install, but i dont think it will help…
Actually with Multidraw turned on, it lags even less
Yes, I was wondering if that was causing the problem, not suggesting you turned it off!
What resolution is your reference picture?
840x840
Have you tried updating to the latest version, 4R6P2 (free to registered users). It might help?
as a work around you can place the image on your desktop or another program behind zbrush and then use the “see through” slider up top near quicksave to make zbrush transparent, allowing the image to show through.
it’s not ideal but at least it’s something until you find a solution.
If I make document’s size 1/4 of a window size, It doesn’t lag
But then, the resolution is very small…
P.S. thanks for the replies, but update didn`t help.
How much RAM do you have?
8gb
You might try using the Image Plane plugin for reference images. I don’t think that will have the problem:

Thanks,I guess I`ll have to learn how to use it if i wont solve this problem…
Here’s another demonstration:
Hmm what is your document size?
I set it to window size…or if i change it to any other size it doesn’t solve the issue…Only if I make it ultra small like 300x200 pixels It doesn’t lag
