Zbrush installation problems on vista business

I just install windows vista buisness x86 version, and i have all my drivers mostly undated for it. When i try to install zbrush 2 it gets to were is installs the uninstall exe and freezes. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem (or any other problems with running zbrush in vista) and if they how to fix it.

This is a problem with the installer, which was created about 2 1/2 years before Vista came out. I’d recommend bypassing the installer on this machine. What you can do is install ZBrush on a different computer (without activating it) and then copy its entire folder to the Vista machine. You’ll then be able to activate it there.

The only downfall to this is you won’t have an uninstaller. It’ll be there in the ZBrush folder, but it won’t work. So to uninstall ZBrush in the future, you’d simply delete the ZBrush 2 folder.

That having been said, there are still no promises that ZBrush will run on the Vista machine. There are basically three options:

  1. If your computer has less than 2 GB of RAM, you should be able to run ZBrush using Windows 2000 compatibility mode.

  2. If your computer has more than 2 GB of RAM, that won’t work and you’ll have to run ZBrush on a 32-bit partition.

  3. If you have more than 2 GB of RAM and don’t want to go the partition route, you’ll have to install ZBrush on a 32-bit machine.

We’re developing ZBrush 2.5 for full compatibility with x64 and Vista. No release date for it yet, however.

I had the same problem, and I sent an email to [email protected] and I still didn’t have an answer.
