Zbrush importing Open EXR format?

I am using Hash’s Animation:Master and it can render out ILM’s Open EXR format for Color, alpha, z-depth, shadow, lights, etc. and I was wondering if Zbrush can import Open EXR or if there is a plug-in for Open Exr import?

Also, if there is no direct import for Zbrush, I do have the plug-in for Photoshop, is there best process to use Photoshop to get the zdepth into zbrush?

Thanks,

ZBrush imports OBJ, DXF, PSD, BMP, JPG, and PICT. It does import one variant of the TIFF format as well, but it’s recommended that you use PSD for that instead.

For depth you would probably export the Z map from Photoshp as a PSD and then import it into ZBrush’s Alpha palette. Then you simply choose a material and press Alpha>CropAndFill to fill the canvas with the depth.

cool. Got it. I don’t know if it’s what I expected though. When I do what you say, the crop and fill, fills the doc with an embossed version of the depth.

I want to be able to paint on my Animation:Master render in zbrush much like Glen Southern did on his zbrush created creature head.

I was impressed that he could render his object with a base shader and then go back into the image and paint changes in material (shiny, color, etc) and the shadows and everything were affected, but it looked like it was rendered that way.

Can I do that with an external render in Zbrush?
