zbrush help! projection high detailed on new low poly mesh

im pretty new to zbrush and i have run across abit of a problem. i decided i wanted to sculpt a head from zbrush, (since iv never tried it before). usaully i build in max first :stuck_out_tongue:

so i built my head from spheres, had a basic head, took that into max. tweaked it and then took it back into zbrush. i carried on detailing the model up to sub 4, then realised by this point that my head is not uv mapped!! (i was busy following a video tutorial to ask any questions :P)
so now im up to this point. i took the lowest sub out back into max, tweaked some of the polys that zbrush messed up and added another loop around the mouth because it was too low rez. and now i have uv mapped the head. is their anyway of taking it back into zbrush and projecting the high rez model onto my new low rez uv’ed head. or do i have to zbrush the whole thing again :frowning:

i would be so gratful for any help as it is driving me mental!!

Make the new head a SubTool of the old. Divide it to have as many subdivision levels as the original. If the model has been polypainted, make sure that Draw>Rgb or Mrgb is turned on, and fill the new head with color and/or material. Then use Tool>SubTool>Project All to copy the details from the original. You may also need to use the ZProject and other brushes to clean up the projection a bit. If a particular area of the model gives you fits, undo the projection and mask that area prior to projecting again. Then you’ll only have to redo a small part of your work.

:+1: thank you so much! i knew their was a way of doing it, the thing i did wrong was not doing the subs on the new low mesh head. it projected perfectly! no more headache for me
