ZBrush Game!!!!

Ok; I don’t know how many of you are interested; but I thought I’d start a little game. I’ve made an suggestivly interesting shape; I want you to see what you can turn it into. Sort of like those old drawing games we all used to play. Start with a few squiggles see what you can make it into type of thing. Best image wins er… the satisfaction I guess

So here is subject number 1.

For anyone who’s interested; here’s what I came up with.

Here is my entry:

Good game Caliban!

well heres my ideal. i didnt do it on purpose but i followed the old man pattern as well. somethin about it just says old guy. i did this over my lunch, about 35 minutes.

OK here’s my contribution to the game. Just a quickie I did over lunch. It was fun to just tinker.

oh wow; some of these are fantastic  Great job guys; I knew this game thingy would be a cool idea

This was fun! For some reason, when I got to spinning the tool around I was reminded of the Great Face of Mars. So here’s my version.

Here’s my attempt. Exactly 40 minutes from downloading the tool to posting this picture

Nice idea this game. LOL

cool thread here… here my entry…

Here is mine. Very quick.

It’s time for bed here :frowning:

Nice idea Caliban

oh wow; these are really REALLY impressive… A few questions to a few people first

Mentat7; your design is fantastic; those eyes just look so good. I’ve followed the eye tutorial pixolator put up under the quicklinks section; however yours seem to have a greater sense of depth. Any tips?

Aurick; yours totally amazes me. How did you get the model I supplied to fit so well in with the ground plane (is is a ground plane that the face is sitting on isn’t it?)

Dr. JJwow; yours is superb; How did you get that “soft” effect with the hair. I’ve followed everything I can; played around with the fibre brush alot; yet I fail to create such an effect as great as yours. Any tips?

 Thanks, Caliban. The best place to describe what I did is that I started with the Alpha Century method of terrain creation. Since the alpha capture can include ANYTHING on the canvas, I didn’t stop with creating landforms. Instead, I also put my pyramids onto the initial painting, and submerged your face into it. Then I grabbed the layer and applied the alpha as a mask just like usual. So the head that you provided is very literally a part of the surrounding landsape! To finish the scene, I used a lot of different brushes for coloring, adding noise, creating small boulders and generally aging everything. Then it was just a matter of lighting and changing the render settings for more contrast. No post work was done except for a resize and adding the text.

The moral of the story: With ZBrush, there’s more than one way to skin a cat!

Thanks for the detailed description Aurick  Fantastic work once again; and thanks for the info. I’m sure going to learn fast with great people like yourself on this message board.

I’ve got some playing around to do

All these are so great! Here is the poor emperor, you know from that story.

Thanks Martin for your hand and Kaluman
for your background.

Lettering by Elefont

Thanks Caliban! I used to create my eyes similarly to the way Pix shows in the quicklinks however I found I could create better coloring and textures by drawing it in photoshop. So now I draw my eye maps entirely in photoshop. There are various filters that I use- blur, zoom blur, as well as brushes such as the dodge, burn and saturation brushes. My new graphics tablet makes it a lot easier to draw the textures now. Bill Flemings’s book “3D Texture Workshop” has an in depth discourse on painting eye maps and although my technique is similar to his I think he goes into much more detail and explains it better. You should check out his book. You can read the discussion about it here 3D Texture Workshop

Its good to be back, i missed you guys

Here is my entry : its a shame to make me work right now, i just got back from a long journey and believe me, i needed sleep :stuck_out_tongue:

Digits, if you ever call me Kaulmann again, i might have to do something very drastic :stuck_out_tongue:

heres mine

wow all of these are really fantastic. We might have to do a few of these games. It’s certainly proving to be quite popular and fun

Anyone else care to do the next starter model? Or would you like me to do another? Any volunteers?

And Mentat7; thanks for the tip on the eyes; with help like this I’ll have my head around ZBrush in no time.

P.S Digits; your work is fantastic :)Did you do the lettering in Z?

thanks for a cool thread to give me something to do…now to create the soft fur of this man you need to bake the image and lower the intensity of the brush…ive created a small script that shows you what im talking about… take in mind that ive used a large brush as a example but you can use this method with a smaller brush for like animal fur etc… let me know if you find this script usefull or helpfull
