ZBrush Explosion!

Hi guys. So I was sculpting in ZBrush and my model randomly exploded. As far as I know, I didn’t physically change any UVs or anything unless there is some weird secret button in ZBrush that does that. I have been working off of the same mesh for the last week, no re-importing the obj or anything like that, so it can’t be a Maya to ZBrush problem. It’s just a ZBrush problem. And, the other version that I have saved wont open. It just crashes ZBrush. Can anyone help? Is there any way to salvage it, or do I have to start over? I was just about to bake out maps and everything. Thanks!

This sounds like your model has become corrupted.

What are your system specs, and what are your Preferences>Mem settings? How many polys does the model have?

Also, for PC users, it is recommended to save your work using the Save button found in the SubTool Master plugin. This has several routines that help avoid file corruption. It is not recommended to use Ctrl+S to save.

My computer (laptop) is only a year old. It has 3GB of RAM, and an NVidia 8600 Graphics card. I typically crank up the max poly mesh and HD mesh preview before I start so that I can subdivide more. The model started at under 10,00 polys and on the highest subdivision is at just over one million.

I know what you mean about ctrl+s because I’ve had it crap out on me before using that, so I never do. I always just click the save button in the Tools menu.

Does it seem like I’m going to have to start over?

Thanks for your help. Hopefully we can figure it out.

I hope that’s something that got fixed in ZB4.
