ZBrush customization does NOT save ' Active Points ' info. (ANSWERED)

When I customize ZBrush.

I pull the ’ Active Points: ’ from the Misc section of Preferences to my ZBrush working bar (top area above viewport).

I ‘store’ the config, and save the config file.

Whenever I restart ZBrush the ‘ActivePoints’ button dissapears. It does not remember the ActivePoints field.

If I reload my config file, again it does not re-place the ‘Activepoints’ info in the area I specified.

This forces me every time to re-customize, and re-drag the ‘ActivePoints’ field to the upper working area every single time I restart ZBrush.

PLEASE FIX ?

Go to this post, and in the very last Q&A is a plugin (UIStarter_Z4R2_V1.zsc) for custom UI’s. Download and install, and that should fix the problem. Note: it does work in 4R3.

NOTE: There appears to be issues with creating a custom UI in the new ZBrush 4R4 release that even the above plugin won’t fix. i.e. buttons being replaced by other random buttons when you press ‘Make PolyMesh3D’ button.

EDIT: This issue seems to resolve itself when I “Save UI”, restarted ZBrush, then “Load UI” and “Store Config”. Before, I just used my 4R3 file.

4R4 no longer needs a special ZScript or anything else to allow you to save your UI.

Also in 4R4 you should not have issues with the activate points, etc.

I find that I still have to use the above plugin.

Edit: If I don’t, Active and Total Points and all Symmetry buttons will disappear.

To get Total/Active points to ‘stick’:

  1. Start ZBrush but do not select a 3D tool
  2. Enable customize and Ctrl+Alt_drag the buttons to your UI.
  3. Store the UI.

Thanks Marcus, that does work. I was drawing the Star3D first before and that is probably why Active and Total Points didn’t stick.

Edit: But I still use the above plugin so all my Symmetry buttons will stay stuck. They won’t otherwise.

EDIT 2: I removed the above plugin because it is no longer effective in ZBrush 4R4. Symmetry buttons will stick but some of them will turn into buttons from the Tool menu when you Make PolyMesh3D…
