This crashes on me all the time. Here are some instances:
-
I have a view of a “Best” render quality, and then change materials, or turn on fog, it crashes. Even with a pretty small object.
-
Hitting the make unified skin button
-
When I store a morph target then hit create difference mesh, whenever it says not enough memory, it then crashes.
-
It just crashes randomly no matter what I am doing.
I am using it on two different machines. Both PCs, one on XP, the other Vista, XP has 2 GB, dual processor, Vista one has 3 GB, quad processor, I mean these are decent machines. I’ve gotten to the point where I have to save the tool I am using for every single change I make, because I worry ZBrush will crash with the next change.
I know you don’t make product recommendations, but with this type of crashing you should tell people on which machines ZBrush actually works without crashing all the time. The thing is, it is often random, and when I try the same action again after restarting, it works fine. So under that circumstance I can’t figure out what I am doing wrong, or what hardware settings are off, it’s ridiculous.
For some music software they have a list of things you can do to make it efficient and stable. I suggest such a list for ZBrush users. This is the only application I use that crashes like this.
