Zbrush Crashing on startup in Vista

I have just gotten a new Windows Vista computer and am trying to install Zbrush, and the installation worked fine.

at first, it would not start at all so I changed the settings to run as administrator and it loaded up and got to the screen for activation ( activate by phone, email, or just activate later ) Not wanting to deal with activation just yet I clicked activate later and it just closed down. No error message. No crash dump, the program just kills itself.

I tried different combinations of options ( Disabling visual themes, XP compatability mode, ect. ) same problem. I tried the activation options ( Activate by email, phone, ect. ) crash. Tried all the other buttons on the 30-day nag screen…crash. I basically cannot run nor register Zbrush.

i believe you have to activate or you cant use it.

Try running the vcredist executable, found in the ZBrush3\Troubleshoot Help folder.
