Zbrush crashes when loading a ZTL file

Hi everybody,
I have a really big problem, I have a ZTL that makes Zbrush crash when I load it, the file is pretty big (nearly 600 MB) I don’t understand because I’ve already worked such big files before without problem…

My processor is a Quad core Q6600, I have 8 GB ram and Windows 7 64 bits
I set compact mem to the max (4096) and set the process priority of Zbrush in “real time” (in the windows menu) but this doesn’t change anything…

Is someone know if there is a way to get my work back PLEASE!!!

I’m not sure of your exact situation, but I use to save my work over the same file until the project was done. Then one day what you described happened and saving the file even ruined the file. From that point on I could not open the file. It’s lost after that. Now I save only once or twice on the same file and then save a new version of the file. When done with the project I just delete the unwanted files. This way if I do lose a file I have a version very close to where I left off.

Hope that helps for the future. As far as the file your on it may be toasted.

Yeah it reminds me a really important basic rule … I think my file is dead but I managed to get a former version thanks to windows (not a joke ^^) in the propreties menu of the file. You can recover a fromer version of the file if windows made a save point (not sure about the english name of this feature, I’m french) before an update of the system.

So only lost a day of work, not a week, I can consider myself lucky :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the piece of advice DanaArts
