• Here is a movie I made. It started with The Monday Night Spacecraft Challenge and was put aside due to a tumultuous work schedule. I had a little free time last night to finish things up (turned into an all-nighter actually…hehe). But here it is. Making a base mesh with the luscious ZSphere tool and continue to build the object with box modeling techniques (Z2 Edgeloop function). Later, creases are added to make the model look more mechanical and less organic. It isn’t the model start to finish but its pretty close. It is also in its entirety so you are looking at a whooping 22 minutes. Just fast forward the boring parts were I seem to lapse into spontaneous retardatuion and rotate the model for no apparent reason whatsoever. =S (well there is a reason, it just looks like there isn’t).

wow thanks MTB! i watched some parts of it and they were great, i will have to watch the rest of it later. This is going to be really helpful, because i don’t know to much about box modeling. nice space craft and thanks for the contribution.

just curious, what program did u use to do the video capture. i am not familiar with how to do this, but i would like to learn. I really like that its in quicktime, becasue it allowsd for fastfording and rewinding very easily. i just wish there was some way to do that with a regular zscript.

I use TechSmith’s Camtasia Studio for the tutorial creation. I have been fortunate enough to have been using it for the past month now on other training material for a client. Well worth the $300 (it actually paid for itself with my first job). I use if for everything from video capture to compositing the video files and adding the text calouts.

As for ZScript funtionality, I too wish they had a rewind and fast forward function.

For the others; If you can live without the ability to compose the video like CAMTASIA does, then Techsmith has also SNAGIT. You can create videos with audio there too! And it is only 40 dollars.

Thanks MTB your efforts are as always much appreciated.
I have just started the download and look forward to watching it.
It’s the efforts of you and others like you that make this software and forum so enjoyable and informative. Seems like there’s something new around the corner everytime I visit this forum or startup ZB.

You are welcome everyone. Its not the biggest or fanciest box modeling job that can be done in Z but I would like to think it would help those who don’t have any idea of what box modeling is let alone how to do it in Z. It was also a good exercise in making movies from various ZScript sessions. I would load a script for you all but am not sure if all the cutting and pasting would work well. I would have to test it out. Some surgery is required.

Here is the final model for you all to see and pick apart.

Hi Mahlikus, dude, I attempted to download your movie but to no avail. Seems your server is down (I tried different browsers and PC’s-Mac and Windows). How can I get your movie buddy? Yes gang (for those who remember me), this is DRAGON (the first artist to use ZBrush to make a car with). Yes, I am at it again, I will post my stuff soon. Wow, it is great to see how far along this program has come. Wow. Merry Xmas all. :smiley:
