ZBrush box modeling -- cant get it started

Hi All. I’ve been seeing great base mesh box modeling done entirely in ZBrush. I have always used Maya to create simple box models for use in ZBrush. I wanted to learn how to create a simple 4 sided cube in ZBrush, so that I can do all my box modeling inside ZBrush.

I do all my extruding and edge looping with the transpose tools, but didn’t know how to create a simple 4 sided cube to get started. I found this tutorial online in the old ZDocs from 2006( http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/Box_Modeling_and_Precision_Texturing) but it didn’t work for me.

The first step involved creating a 3Dcube and then adjusting the unified skin settings: Resolution to 8 and Smt to 0. It is apparently no longer possible to set the Resolution below 16. Thus, while my final cube no longer has poles, it does have far more than 4 sides when I have reconstructed the lowest subdiv level the program will allow.

Can someone please tell me how to create a 4 sided cube in ZBrush?

You can add the Polysphere from Lightbox and ‘Reconstruct Subdiv’ back to a cube
