ZBrush/Blender HELP!

Hello all, first post.

I am working on a game model and I am planning on beefing it up on ZBrush, unwrapping in blender, then export displacement and normal maps for mapping onto a low res model.

After I beefed up my model in zbrush, i started painting colors onto it. then i realized a big question: question #1 Do i have to UV unwrap the model in blender BEFORE i can eport the normal and displacement maps from zbrush? or if its okay to do it after i paint/color?

question #2: do i import the low or do i import the high res model into bender to unwrap? (i am currently guessing the low poly model)

question #3: people talk about the scratch tool for wrinkles and scratches all the time, but where is it?

question #4: any tips on sculpting details like fish scales/crocodile skin texture onto the model in zbrush?

So those are my four biggest questions right now and i am just unable to find all my answers on the web anymore. please help!

Finally, you are welcomed to criticize or comment on my model as it progresses.

P.S. please excuse me about being pretty new to zbrush and completely new to blender. I came from maya.

Thanks in advance,
Joe

you need to re-export the model at its lowest subd from zbrush import the obj into blender (make sure the clamp scale option is set to 0.00 in the import settings) do your uvs in blender (dont move the model or change the topology zb will only be able to use the adjustments if the vert order remains the same) export the model with uv’s from blender and imort it back into zb as long as the zb model has been left as it was when you exported then the model should not appear to change however if you do a uv check you should see your new uv’s. if you move something incorrectly the mesh may explode if this happens just undo and restart the process. this method will mean all your sculpted detail and painting will remain in tact.

i think it may be the slash tool they are talking about rather than a scrach brush.

try using stencils or alphas for the scales

hope this helps

for more info take a look at the zbrush wiki and the zbrush class room the help pdf found in zbrush (or in the download center if you dont already have it) should have some more info on most of these topics. also take a look at jason welsh’s tuts he can be found on youtube and veho and on zbc under cannedmushroom i think he has a video on doing uvs in blender and zbrush.
