Hmmm that extraction tool would be a great way of popping out the muscles of my model even more. Although i think i have a workflow now. These are really exciting additions, I just saw both videos. Since 1 gig of ram can handle about 1.5 million polys, will the next zbrush be able to do more with 1 gig? like 6 million polys. I’m kind of sad that i’m not there now. Would love to see this in person. Guess that’s what next year is for!
Any word on a release date? I remember the “roadmap to ZB2.5” thread almost a year ago, when you guys promised it until the end of that very year (2005)
i really love all these new features i wish could make it to siggraph it would be great to see it hopefully you guys will have footage later on for show of some of the events there and those videos you posted are amazing especialy mesh extraction its insane how much we can do now it truly boggles my mind we will never really need another 3d program again but i cant beleive what i saw when i seen just those few seconds tyhat you showed in the videos it is amazing and i would like to thank you for making a great peice of software that people can easily do things that would be complicated in other programs like silo itys madness now we can truly sculpt what we want now with out limitations. but just to ask a question what are the requirments of are memory and computer to make a 20 million polgon model and is this going to be compatible with a 64 bit system? any ways thanks again for keeping us in the loop i very much appreciate it!!!
Ryan you guys rock! the one thing I really wanted to see was layers, but my question is why did you say there was no performance hit, can you ellaborate why?
ryan:
holy crap…this is mind boggling. Perspective view!? man…
now all we need is the date?!
this made my week…
THANK YOU for the two first videos.
I’m on my knees, and all i can sat is that the future is bright for Pix and the 3d community.
Pixologic is rock!!!
Thank you Ryan for the look see. This is going to be a very exciting update.

Ever hopeful Jantim…
This looks good indeed, I think Pixologic have answered the workflow issues I’ve been reading about in every Mudbox thread…
This new version seems to match MudBox punch for punch & then some, thanks for the hardwork guys, I now understand the reason for your silence…
Have a good show…
Thanks Ryan for the update, these new features are very impressive, I look forward to using them.
Hope you guys have a really nice couple of days at Sig, only wish it was here in the UK.
Keep the news flowing for us unfortunates who cannot attend.
Too all those people that said that these new features mean ZBrush indeed does stay on top of Mudbox, I’d have to agree. The only thing left now is to see if there is any interface changes, making it more streamlined, designed with 3d in mind and of course, more inviting to people that don’t use ZBrush. This is the last thing I see Mudbox has as an advantage.
And as a sidenote, I feel that the viewport of MB is more pleasing to look at, with the smooth shading and grids and such. Perhaps a customisable interface and hotkeys, to make it easier to enter the ‘expert mode’, letting us have the viewport covering most of the screen?
Oh, sorry about the MB comment, it may stir up a flame war, but I feel it is a very important time in our lives, the challenger vs the champon.
Thanks for the announcements Ryan, you are probably breathing a sigh of relief that you can finally say something out loud about ZB2.5!
these are very nice features, especially the perspective and layers,
but I just hope a realease date will be announced so it isn’t the beggining of 2 more years of developement.
Looking very impresive, I can’t wait to try it! Will there be a Universal Binary for Macs?
Much jealousy for those attending. I see now that I should have sold my car. Or a kidney.
Oh, and how come nobody’s commenting on the lasso tool? Seriously. Did you not watch the video? You weren’t dreaming; we’re getting a lasso tool! Yeah!!
Apparently yes…
If not I’m in the s**t as I’m moving over to the Intel Power Mac as soon as they are released…
Wow that’s great news to wake up to and read thanks a bunch and looking forward to reading alot more!
Impressive stuff shown in those videos too
Good luck at Siggraph
