Zbrush At Siggraph - From My Perspective - Day 12

It seems like the arguments are going around in circles(lol I see this as a sign tho, of how much we love zbrush. I no one cared about zbrush, I don’t think there would be such a fiasco right now.

I completely empathise with frustration people expresses though. I get really frustrated with Projection Master, so when I saw the Siggraph demos of Zbrush 2.5, i was practically drooling. Wiseman says, good things come in time:D

In midst of all this confusion, I do find the situation amuzing though. With the rise of Mudbox, the competiton for the market is sure to get tense over the next few years. I think change is good, to an extent:)

Much wisdom for a first post, zombie_weekly.

Can I ask about your username? Is there, perhaps, a magazine we should be aware of?

ok final question  When ZB 2.5 will be relased?

The new tools look fantastic! Is the new modeling rig tool going to be in the 2.5 release?
Is there a real release date?

Thanks,

Frank B.

[color=black]I read through most of the thread and I can’t find any clue about a release date. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make it to Siggraph so I could ask in person.

Did anyone that attended Siggraph ask about a release date?

You would think they would release this information at Siggraph.

Thanks,

Is there a real release date?

No there isn’t.

Pixologic have been at pains to say again and again that there won’t be information until a firm date can be given.

When this information is available you won’t be able to miss it.

Aside: that some people form the opinion that they are missing published information might be avoided by interface changes here at ZBC

Well, it’s kinda members only. You know, for the undead…:sunglasses:

Well, that’s just prejudiced. I’ll have you know I’ve got no life whatsoever. Ask anyone!

IMO, one of the benefit of Projection Master is to get rid of polycount.
Zbrush and in Mudbox, when you reach a high polycound, the strokes are dotted. that’s the reason why Skymatter have a ‘Scratch brush’, but it dosen’t solve the problem , the scratch brush strokes are continious BUT jagged as seen on the video on their website.
You will never have this kind of problem in PP

that is absolutely right!

Thanks for the info Taron. I’ll start checking out your new site.:sunglasses:

I seriously cannot believe this… These new features are incredible. I always log on to zbrush central to look at peoples artwork… now im going to log on even more when these updates are up and running. WOW!!! Oh and all you artist are awesome… keep up the good work. Without people like you, Movies, any type of media would not be enjoyable. THANK YOU ALL!

I can’t believe people are still bitching about release dates for Zbrush. It’s been going on now constantly for six years solid, as far as I can remember. Imagine that, I could have had a kid when I first heard all this stuff and he’d be in primary school by now and the whole while there’s this never ending complaining going on. Sorry, I just had to share that thought.

I guess everyone is excited because they know they’ll get it as soon as it is out because it’s yet another free update. I suppose if Pixologic charged a few hundred bucks for major updates like everyone else then it wouldn’t be so bad.

Hey  ,

first of all thx pixologic team,

this preview looks so amazing - i am paitently waiting! i know that you
will deliver a piece of software which will stand out.

i was wandering what happened to the rigging features but i dont care
too much if i can get my hands on the mesh extraction!

one more thing i missed was the :small_orange_diamond: redrawing tool which might
be the same as mesh extraction tool?!- i think it was a really important
feature to overdraw highpoly in order to get a clean mesh -
it would make zbrush more independant of predone lowpoly models.
you could start a complex shape with a primitive or even with the

:small_orange_diamond: “make 3d” aplpha tool…

happy pixoling ;>

Hi all,

I have to say that it was great being in the siggraph, the city was very beautiful and the people were very friendly…
the siggraph itself was also great! many many interesting things going on!
about Zbrush itself, it was just GREAT, the new tools worked perfectly in all the demos that were done in real time, the software worked so smooth and effective that i was very impressed…the topology thing showed there was impressive, working perfectly, the mesh extraction also impressive…layers just great…many many tools that were WOW…but from all of this things, what impressed me the most, is to find that behind this masterpiece of software there is such a team of guys, not just very talented and professional, but friendly, funny and awesome human beings… so, siggraph and zbrush: great. the pixologic team: i have no words…thanks guys for making it so special!!

Same here. Me and my interface…

It was nice of you to post your comments about the time you had at siggraph. Sounds like you had a great time and its great to hear that zbrush 2.5 apears to run smooth.

Was there any other tools that have not been shown in the recent videos, and just wondered weather you noticed weather the mesh extract or topology was a duplicate edge flow of the original or different. Would be nice to grab my old 3d models and make a better version of it with better edge flow.

I have a question: If you take out mudbox’s nice and easy UI, what is
left that Zbrush doesn’t have?

I don’t have zbrush yet, but I don’t quite get the disilusionment over
zbrush’s UI. I mean, it wasn’t that long ago that people were so happy
because zbrush made certain things about modeling so much easier than
modeling in a major 3d app, right? Now it’s suddenly too hard?

I know there are video people who own both a PC and a Mac, and have to
learn the OS for both, even though the OS is a lot different on each
machine. But they do it so they can have the best possible combination
of software.

So, I’d really like to know what mudbox has besides the nice comfy UI.
Because if that’s all it is, that’s not enough.

I also had a great time in Boston/SIGGRAPH. Zbrush 2.5 demo was great. It was great to meet Ryan in person and talk to him briefly about ZBrush. I don’t know if he’ll remember talking to me but Ryan was very nice.

This was my first as well going to SIGGRAPH and I enjoyed every bit of it. Like everyone else, I too am excited about 2.5. It looks like Pixologic has set a new standard for 3D modeling and I can’t wait to take the road that Pixologic has paved!

Dear ZBrush Team:

Again, incredible additions to the program! Bravo!

Can’t wait to use them.
