hello! does anyone knows the way (if possible!) to import in rhino an object zbrush, with texture (done by text master), i have a plug in to import obj in rhiuno, but everything arrive in white state! thank you for help !friendly, M.
Hi Marcel, I think you have to apply them separately. Try saving the texture and then applying it to the object in rhino. I’m no expert but I am a little bit suspicious about the ability of obj to save with texture.
If you have the texture wrapped onto the model when you export it from ZBrush, then ZBrush will create both an OBJ and a BMP with the same name. The BMP will be the texture, which will have been adjusted to work well with other programs.
In Rhino, you may have to apply the texture separately, as Gummie said. But you should use the texture that ZBrush creates automatically rather than exporting the texture from the Texture palette – otherwise you won’t get the benefit of all the routines that ZBrush runs to make your texture compatible with other programs.
Because those routines are being run, we also recommend that you save your model as a ZTL at the same time that you export it as an OBJ (and say yes when ZBrush asks if you want to save the texture with the file). If you need to adjust the texture later, load the ZTL rather than re-importing the OBJ and texture. Otherwise, you’ll be importing a texture that has been adjusted to fit other programs, and so won’t work as well in ZBrush anymore!
thank you aurick and gummie… i begin to understand, it seems to work very weell with unified zspheres, ; with 3dsphere, the texture comes directly, but inversed…’ i before just tried to export from texture pannel, and was more or less discouraged…but now i have new trails!
even if this thread is a bit old, i’m going to throw my two cent’s in since i love Rhino …Rhino isn’t really a very good renderer, particularly for polygon objects. It has no smoothing capabilities…Attached object from Zbrush, imported OBJ file format in rhino 3.0 with texturemaster auv texture. You can see the pattern created in the texture. It may be fixible, but really it’s not worth the bother. My favorite three programs together are, Zbrush,(Organic Modeling, Texturing) Rhino (Hard Surface Modeling)and Cinema (Polygon editing, Rendering, someday animation ). Cinema is great for building individual polygons to tie Rhino made objects to Zbrush made objects.
Lastly, some people want one program that does it all, but I hope that Zbrush never becomes a Maya, or Softimage, or Max or any other program like that, I think the current modeling direction that Zbrush is going down could make it the Rhino of Organic Poly’s, Of course I happen to think it is… JMHO

Hi David
If you want a similar modeler than Rhino but with much funny pleasure of use (like Zbrush try Amapi
It’s a curious modeler
Pilou
I did Try Amapi when I wondering around the world looking at different modeling programs. And I may try it again one day, but right now, I can barely function in
Frenchy, to finish that thread, i might again try it…Just attaching a little photo of a boat I’m working on in Rhino…The Getting those lines is So hard to do correctly in Most progams…Rhino it’s a cinch. Not only that they are dead accurate, and buildable…That’s the coolest part of that program. Works like a construction worker thinks…LOL
David
you know frenchy, your a sick man… thanks for the cool link, i’m going to check some of these programs out, they mostly seem hydrostatic related, but that’s sort of my next step anyway. perfect…
David…
Frenchy has a direct neuron-to-Google link. All he has to do is think it, and he gets 10,931 related links on his screen.
Hi Jay
No, for this time It’s not a Google link :D,
but a friend’s link who is crazy of hull’s creating and sail-drawing
It’s not Popeye but a lover’s seaman world
Breath, puff of wind is also astonished
Have a good surfing on the real sea
