ZBrush and Max, Maya etc.

Hello,
I am wondering, if for example one can model in a 3d package such as 3ds max, maya etc., is there a point in learning zbrush, and what is it ?

I’ve seen many tutorials/galleries that used for example max with zbrush etc., so what exactly does that do, i mean what can you accomplish with both of them that ypu cant accomplish in some 3d package suchas 3sd max, alone ?

And basically anything else you can tell me about the relation of using max with zbrush and the benefits.

thanks!

ZBrush can attain much, much higher polygon counts than an animation package can. It also has excellent organic modeling features that don’t require manipulating on a vertex level. You can paint textures without having assinged UV’s yet thanks to the polypaint feature. There’s a ton more. Check out www.pixologic.com/zclassroom for an intro to what’s possible. Also www.pixologic.com/docs.

thanks.

But how do they complement one another ?

For example if a model was made using e.g. max and zbrush, what do you think were they both used for while modeling, and why ?

and anything related to working with both programs.

Also can you model a character just in zbrush and then animate it in an animation package ?

And can you model a character in max and then use zbrush to modify it in a way that you couldnt with the max ?
