ZBrush and Lightwave 9

Hi there,

Maybe this is covered somewhere but, I can’t find anything on this. I’m running LW 9.0 with ZBrush on a Mac. Got some weirdness happening with my textures in Layout. It happens in Modeler too and that’s where I first had trouble. Doesn’t seem to be happening in Modeler now but, it’s reared it’s ugly head in Layout. Take a look at the pics… I’ve been following the LW to ZBrush and back again tutorial. Had success up til now. The Shark in the pic renders fine but in OpenGL I get this blocking of the texture. Anyone know why this is happening?

Hello PCD,

This is the result of your open GL maximum texture resolution option being set too low. It is handy to have it set low, so you can navigate around your scene with ease, but if you are doing texture editing, you`ll want to raise the max res. to something approaching your textures true resolution.

Are you using deformation maps? Do you get bloating?

Thank you very much for that. Up to this point I’ve been using procedurals and simple materials for my models. I bought ZBrush for the scuplting and texture abilities. And in OpenGL my character’s mesh is bloating but, since the texture resolution is now higher it’s not bloating as much.
